Soccer past 2010 - 2011 Season
Gabriel Salinas was a Sophomore at Derby High School when he pasted away July 2nd at Cheney Lake. He was a member of the JV soccer team #19. He will be greatly missed!

The Derby School board has eliminated the girls soccer C-Team due to budget cuts & lack of teams to play next school year for 2011-2012. Derby's C-Team played 9 games last season, with 4 of them against USD 259 schools in Wichita.
This made it easy for the athletic Dept. & school board to ax the team, but wait the superintendent for USD 259 (Wichita) has found $2.6 million to use to bring back their C-Team programs in which he will purpose to their school board. So, if USD 259 brings back C-Team soccer, is it to late for Derby to do the same? or do they go the way of the Buffalo's?
Only time & money will tell!

The Derby High School head Coach Robert Rhodes is holding 3 soccer camps. The Boys/Girls camp is for grades 9th thru 12th & the Youth camp is for 5yr olds thru 8th grades.

Time: 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM
Location: Derby High School Soccer Fields
Cost: $35 per player and includes a camp T- Shirt
Derby High School boys’ and girls’ coaches and players will be there to help teach the youth. We will be using activities and games to teach fundamental skills to the kids. Anyone is welcome to come out and learn how to play the game or improve the skills they have already been taught. We will break up the youth into three groups, so that they will be playing against their kid’s own age. Kids will also be placed on their ability and experience.
5yr olds thru 3rd Grade (More games and basics to gain confidence)
4th Grade thru 6th Grade (More technical skill drills and small sided games)
7th and 8th Grade (Drills the high school team uses and scrimmages)

All-Star Weekend June 24-25 in Wichita, KS! Their will be having a FREE Coaches Clinic Friday night at Kapaun Mt. Carmel's facilities 6-8pm with KU Coach Mark Francis. He will be doing a session on defending and on offense. We will also be having a coaches' Social afterwards at Kapaun with free drinks and free pizza! Please let me know if you are planning to attend this evening's activities.
On Saturday morning at KMC there will be a free kids clinic, 9-11am, for kids 6-12 years of age put on by firemen and police that were former players. The kids will also get free food and drinks after the clinic. The main Sponsor, Golf Warehouse-Soccer Division, is asking that all coaches take a facility tour to see their new soccer division. They are going to be giving away discounts and other items. They are doing a lot for our games and players this weekend! We need to support them for doing this. The tour will be 9:30 - 10:30am Saturday morning.
At noon their will be our All-Star Banquet at KMC honoring our players and coaches representing their schools. We will be presenting medals to all the players and will have a guest speaker along with our feature speaker Coach Mark Francis. Tickets for the Banquet will be $8 a plate. Hopefully you will support your players by attending this Banquet. Please send me an email reserving your spot.
After the Banquet their will be the KSCA meeting to discuss some issues that need to be address. Would like to have more input by coaches in our meeting and hope to have this our annual meeting every year at this time.
The games will start with the women's game starting at 5pm and the men's game starting at 7:30pm. These games will be played at Stryker Complex in Wichita. Thank you all for supporting high school soccer here in Kansas and helping to make our sport more visible to the public!
