The 2008 - 2009 soccer season starts shortly with some new faces & field changes. All games for Varsity & JV will be played on the new turf at the football stadium, with Varsity games being played under the lights. The biggest problem I see is practicing on the grass field, per the AD there will be no soccer practice on the new turf. This could present a problem when fielding a team, not all players do well on artificial turf, the ball reacts different, the game is faster & the shoes are different. Basically they are playing indoor soccer outside where speed rules. This could be a very interesting season!

The defensive play of Ali Schreiber during Derby High School girls’ soccer games did not go unnoticed by opposing coaches.

The senior defender was named last week to the Class 6A Coaches All-Region first team, essentially a list of the best players in the Wichita area.
